What is Shakshuka?

Our delicious Shakshuka is an authentic Middle Eastern recipe with eggs poached in our homemade roasted pepper and tomato sauce. Each flavourful dish is cooked and served in its own pan, accompanied by a fresh mixed salad and warm Pita bread.

FAQs

Do you offer vegan shakshuka?

Yes. You can request your shakshuka without eggs. Vegan-friendly toppings such as aubergine, herbs, olives, avocado and mushrooms are available. Please note that feta is dairy and not vegan.


Is your shakshuka spicy?

Our shakshuka has a mild Mediterranean-style warmth from tomatoes, peppers and spices. It is not spicy by default. If you prefer heat, you can add fresh chilli as a topping or request our homemade chilli dip (“sechus”) on the side.

 

When can I order shakshuka at Sunny Hill Cafe?

Shakshuka is available during kitchen opening hours for breakfast, brunch and lunch, from 9:00am to 4:00pm.


Can I take shakshuka to-go / order takeaway at Sunny Hill Cafe?

Yes. Shakshuka is available for takeaway when ordering in person and for delivery via Deliveroo.


Is the shakshuka at Sunny Hill Cafe gluten-free?

The shakshuka base (tomatoes, peppers and eggs) is gluten-free. Bread served alongside contains gluten. Please ask staff for gluten-free options.


Do you offer allergen information for shakshuka?

Yes. Full allergen information is available for all dishes. Please inform staff of any allergies or dietary requirements when ordering.

Can I book a table for shakshuka or do I need to walk in?

Booking is not required, but indoor tables can be reserved by phone for up to 90 minutes. Booking is recommended during busy periods such as weekends.


Do you serve shakshuka all week?

Yes. Shakshuka is available all day and every day we are open.


Can I request modifications (vegetarian, vegan, dietary)?

Yes. We can accommodate dietary preferences where possible, including vegan adaptations, allergy-related changes and additional toppings. Please speak to staff when ordering.

What makes your shakshuka different?

Our shakshuka is prepared with slow-cooked tomatoes, peppers and free-range eggs, inspired by Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavours.
